Our Story

My wife recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Pretty soon I was caught up in the whirlwind of being a new parent. Late night feedings, diaper changes, finding creative ways to hush a crying newborn. One day as I was piling all of the "Gear"... the Uppababy stroller, the diaper bag, and our infant version of a "GO Bag" into the back of our SUV as quickly and efficiently as possible, I just suddenly blurted out "I'm That Guy".

I then found those three words looming in my head every time it was my turn for Daddy Duty as I loaded up our daughter into the stroller and went for 30 minute walks around our neighborhood. Other pedestrians and joggers would always take a gander at the contents of the stroller and then glance up at me. I would feel a bit self-conscious in the beginning but over time I just changed my thinking to being proud to be spending some quality time with my little ladybug. I began to notice other fathers pushing strollers around as well. I felt a kinship with them, as if we were part of some special club.

A few months later, I was in the gym working out. I look out the window and see this guy pushing a stroller, nice and slow with one hand and doing something on his cell phone with the other. That was my Aha Moment. My flagship design, I'm That Guy - Stroller!

I ran a contest on www.99designs.com and was looking for a character that was to be very simple, the "Everyman". I decided what better representation than the Stick Figure. Such a universal icon! What was to make him unique was his expression. My description went like this, "The “guy” illustrated character should exude a fun-ness (is that a word?). Something with a fun loving smirk or smile. He should look like he's having the time of his life and he's cool with being That Guy".

Then I thought, we all have some activity or hobby or sport that we really dig doing to the point of geeking out! And that's ok... because it's a big part of who we are and we're cool with that.

So.... which Guy or Girl are you?
